Mount Rushmore (Igneous Rock)
Mt. Rushmore is a carving made of four old presidents of America, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosevelt. It is made of Granite, which is an Igneous rock. It was formed by sculptor, John Gutzon de la Mothe Borglum and about 400 other helpers from 1927 to 1941. Only 6 of those 14 Years was the carving actually being done. The first step of building this marvellous landmark was blowing up many bits of rock with dynamite. The workers then sat on seats, which were hanging from the top of the rock, and used many tools such as jackhammers, drills, hammers and many other tools to finish the work.
